Regardless of all the recruiting attention, little can sway Trevor Menke away from Nebraska. The Beatrice guard hopes to walk on with the Huskers following his senior season with the Orangemen.
"It might be a little shocking to some people that someone would want to do that," Menke said, "But for me growing up and always loving the Huskers and wanting to do that, it'd be real fun for a kid like me."
Menke says Doc Sadler is close with Beatrice boys coach Jim Weeks, and last season, former Orangeman standout Mike Fox joined the Huskers as a walk-on.
"It would just be a real dream come true just to do that for myself and for my family," Menke said. Menke says he regularly goes to Nebraska games and has always wanted to be a part of the Husker program.
Menke is refining his basketball skills this summer on the Bison Nebraska-Red club team. He's twice played in the Class B Championship game, leading Beatrice to a state title in 2008 and a runner-up finish in '09.
