Four teams from the capitol city have made it to the Class A State Football playoffs and that includes the Gators of Lincoln North Star.

Lincoln North Star faces Elkhorn Friday at 7 p.m. North Star enters the Class A playoffs with a 13 seed, meaning they have to travel to face #4 seed Elkhorn to begin their playoff push.

Both North Star and Elkhorn have identical 7-2 records but did not play each other in the regular season.

After defeating Omaha Northwest 56-8 to begin the season, North Star fell to Southwest 42-20, before reeling off five straight wins. The Gators closed the regular season losing 27-12 to Grand Island and then won their season finale against Lincoln Northeast 34-7.

Elkhorn has wins over Omaha Westside, Fremont, Bellevue East, Lincoln East, Kearney, Lincoln Southwest and Norfolk. Their only losses came to Millard South and Lincoln Southeast, both the Patriots and the Knights enter the playoffs as the #1 and #2 seed respectively.
