It will be an intracity affair Friday when the Knights of Lincoln Southeast and the Rockets of Lincoln Northeast meet in the first round of the Class A State Football Playoffs.
Both teams met in the regular season, and the Knights came out victorious winning 21-10.
The Rockets enter the playoffs as the #15 seed, while the Knights held the #2 seed for a majority of the season.
Northeast opened the season with a 41-12 loss to Omaha Creighton Prep before winning against Omaha Benson, and then dropping their next two games to Lincoln Southwest and Lincoln Southeast. They won their next two games against Fremont and Lincoln High, before losing to Grand Island. The Rockets defeated North Platte, before falling to Lincoln North Star in their regular season finale.
The Knights on the other hand have dominated their opponents in Class A, other than an eight-point loss to Norfolk in the middle of the season. Southeast reeled off four-straight wins to begin the season, before falling to Norfolk, and then won the last four games of the season to lock up the #2 seed in the playoff field.
Kickoff from Lincoln's Seacrest Field is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. Friday and the winner will meet the winner of Lincoln Southwest/Millard North, in the quarterfinal round next Friday, November 6.
