This time, Aquinas left no doubt. The Monarchs used strong defense and Nate Roh on goalline situations to post a convincing 35-8 win over Wilber-Clatonia. The last two meetings between schools had gone into overtime.
The Monarchs' impressive win was triggered by their stout defense. Aquinas intercepted four passes and allowed little offense from Wilber-Clatonia. In fact, the Wolverines lone score came on special teams - a Tanner Zlab punt return right before halftime.
Aquinas, leading 14-8 at intermission, regained control of the game by relying on running back Nate Roh. The junior began the second half scoring with a short touchdown run and later added two more TDs.
Aquinas advances to face HTRS in the Class C2 quarterfinals.
