A chorus in music signifies a repeated line or theme, and it becomes familiar to those singing or hearing a specific piece of music.
That was the theme in the Class D-2 Championship game as Humphrey St. Francis running back Matt Korus kept running the ball and led the Flyers to their first state championship since winning the Class D-2 crown back in 1996.
Korus rushed for 207 yards on 37 carries, scoring all five touchdowns in the game and was quick to give credit to the Humphrey St. Francis defense for the win following the game.
"Our three up front guys were amazing."
The Flyer defense didn't allow a single point to Hayes Center and only allowed 132 total yards of offense.
When asked about how important it was to get the shut out, Korus commented, "It was good. We actually had a goal to hold them to 12 points, and we realized that we could get a shut out, and we got the job done."
The Flyers had 382 yards of total offense, and 373 of that came on the ground game.
