Hunters in Nebraska killed a record 66 bull elk this fall.

The Nebraska Game and Parks Commission says that's nine more than were killed last year.

The commission says 80 percent of the 82 bull elk permit holders bagged an elk during the season, which closed Oct. 25.

The commission says 40 cows were taken during the first half of the antlerless elk season. The second half opens Dec. 1.
