What is the Can Care-a-Van?
The 10/11 Can Care-a-Van is an annual food drive which takes place in communities across Nebraska and northern Kansas each year. It began in 1988, when Nebraska Food Pantry Network Coordinator Joanne Komenda and former KOLN/KGIN General Manager Frank Jonas worked together for Farm Aid. The partnership worked so well, it became an annual event. Since then, the Can Care-a-Van has collected over 3,000,000 lbs. of food for families in need.
How can I help?
The Can Care-a-Van collects canned food, non-perishables, and monetary donations. Scroll down and click the “Participating County Donation Locations” link to find the collection site nearest you. Dates, times, and most-needed items are also listed there.
How can my company/church/school/club help?
We love group participation! Nothing is better for team-building than volunteering to help neighbors in need. Start a penny war, organize a fundraiser, or offer to pick up donations for elderly donors. Get creative! Then drop off your donation at one of the Can Care-a-Van collection sites.
