Disney on Ice presents Passport to Adventure invites Kearney area citizens to send hunger packing by collecting non-perishable items for the Mid-Nebraska Food Bank.
The food drive will kick-off with an all-day event, November 1 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the NRG radio stations KGFW, KQKY and KRNY who are the media sponsors for the drive. The stations are located at 23rd and Central Avenue in Kearney.
On November 1, the first 300 people to donate five non-perishable food items at the stations, will receive one voucher good for a ticket for the Disney on Ice opening night performance (Wednesday, November 20.)
From November 2 through November 20, donations will be taken at Viaero Center. Anyone who donates five nonperishable items at Viaero during that time can register for a drawing for free opening night tickets to the show. Citizens can bring items to Viaero during regular box office hours from November 2 through November 20 and may enter the drawing each time they bring five non-perishable food items.
"Hunger hits every part of the state and is an everyday occurrence," said Kyle Martin, Development Director for Community Action Partnership of Mid Nebraska and spokesperson for the Mid-Nebraska Food Bank. "We're pleased that Disney on Ice asked us to partner with them to bring attention to the need and to help fill our food bank shelves. We encourage everyone in the Kearney area to participate."
The food drive will culminate with a special food packing competition on Opening Day of Disney on Ice presents Passport To Adventure on November 20th at the Viaero Center.
Disney On Ice presents Passport to Adventure will take audiences on a sightseeing tour of the imagination. The event visits Kearney from Wednesday, November 20 to Sunday, November 24 for seven performances at the Viaero Event Center.
