LINCOLN/HASTINGS June 12, 2014 Just after midnight Thursday, KHAS-TV’s line-up of NBC, syndicated and local programming is moving to KSNB-TV channel 4.1. The current line-up of MeTV/MyNetworkTV programming on KSNB-TV will move to KSNB-TV channel 4.2. Both channel 4.1 and 4.2 will broadcast in High Definition Digital.
“We will continue to serve our viewers with local news, weather, sports, information and entertainment. There is no dispute with any cable or satellite provider, who are really great partners with us. Rather, this over-the-air channel change will have minimal impact on viewers directly yet allow us to better serve Central Nebraska going forward.” said Ulysses Carlini, Jr. KHAS General Manager.
“We are eager to welcome this local NBC into the Gray Television family and look forward to working together to serve our viewers, communities and businesses in Central Nebraska. Our company is very focused on technology and news. As a result, KHAS’s loyal viewers can look forward to some exciting changes in the months ahead,” said 10/11 Vice President and General Manager, Susan Ramsett.
Gray Television, Inc. owns a number of television stations in Nebraska including KOLN/KGIN-TV (10/11 CBS) and KSNB-TV (MeTV/MyNetworkTV) in Lincoln and Grand Island, as well as WOWT-TV (NBC) in Omaha, and KNOP-TV (NBC) and KNPL-TV (CBS) in North Platte. We are also working to build a new local television station in Scottsbluff for KSTF-TV (CBS). All stations broadcast in High Definition. “The move of KHAS’s programming and great staff to KSNB-TV allows us to serve all of Nebraska in truly unprecedented ways,” explained Ms. Ramsett.
From the viewers’ perspective, this channel change should present minimal if any disruption to those who subscribe to DirecTV, Dish Network and most local cable systems. These providers have been notified of the change, and most indicate they plan to make the necessary technical adjustments without changing their current channel line-ups. Subscribers with questions should contact their local cable or satellite provider. For viewers watching these stations “over the air” via antenna, a re-scan of local signals will be required to continue receiving both channels.
