The man charged with shooting another man in the leg while butchering a pig will spend time in prison.
A Hall County District Court Judge sentenced Luis Motola-Palacio to 3-5 years in Nebraska Deptartment of Corrections. He will aslso pay $5,400 in restitution to the victim.
Police say Motola-Palacio used a shotgun to shoot Michel Gardia-Rivera following an argument they had on Aug. 10 while butchering a pig in a garage.
On Aug. 12, police were called to 610 North Locust Street after a 911 call came in about a disturbance.
"But it was actually in the garage behind the house, off the alley," said Captain Dean Elliott.
Elliott says that's where a group of people were butchering pigs. Police say the suspect, Luis Motola Palaco, got into an argument with the victim Michel Garcia-Rivera.
"Ended up shooting him in the leg at some what close range with a shot gun," said Elliott.
Elliott says why the two got into an argument still remains a mystery.
"We aren't certain at this point why it lead from a disagreement between these two parties into him getting shot," said Elliott.
