Cedars Youth Alternative held a foster family potluck picnic at Holmes Lake last weekend. It was a chance for foster families to get together and have fun and be support systems for each other. Besides the picnic, families could get a professional family picture, fish, play on the playground and do crafts.
Some 10/11 Cares members were happy to volunteer at the craft table. We hepled kids make friendship bracelets, gave them temporary tattoos and painted their faces. Of course, we couldn't resist getting in on the action ourselves. One girl got all in on the action and not only painted her own face, but painted our Nikki's face, as well.
It takes special people to be foster parents, and we're thankful to all of them in our community. The smiles on the kids' faces shows how valuable what they do is and what impact they're making on those kids' lives.
