Ever wonder what happens to all the trash people create during the tailgates? Ever heard of Go Green for Big Red? This is one of the easiest volunteer opportunities, especially for people who attend Nebraska home football games.

Anyone who wants to volunteer to help recycle for any or all home football games shows up an hour and a half before each game. They distribute recycling bins to tailgaters in the different lots surrounding Memorial Stadium. Then, after the game, they return and pick up the filled recycle containers. Last year they saved about 10,000 pounds of cups, cans and bottles from the landfill.

If you need an added incentive, all volunteers get a free t-shirt, 24 oz. steel water bottle, lunch and drinks. If this opportunity sound right up your alley email recycling@unl.edu or call (402) 472-9139.
