City of Grand Island and Hall County officials are working together-- on a whole new level.

Mayor Jay Vavricek and Supervisor Pam Lancaster climbed to the top of the scaffolding on the Hall County Courthouse building Tuesday.

It's a fundraiser for the Hall County Hero Flight. The program sends World War II veterans to Washington DC to see the World War II memorial.

Mayor Vavricek says it's a great opportunity for city and county officials to work together.

"We all appreciate veterans, our community stepped up to be so proud of veterans and sending them on the hero flights, this is the least that we could do," Vavricek says.

"They certainly made efforts for us and so we'll do what's necessary to raise the funds to get them back to Washington DC," Lancaster says.

The 130 foot climb put them about 14 stories above the ground, but both leaders said it was worth it.
