10,000 capital city kids will have a merry Christmas thanks to an annual toy give-away.

It's the Center for People in Need's "Kids in Toyland" event.

Parents were lined up before 5:00 Saturday morning, waiting to pick out presents for their kids.

All the toys, food, and household items are donated by the community.

100 volunteers are needed every hour to make the event happen.

Organizers say it wouldn't be possible without residents giving both items and their time.

The Kids in Toyland give-away continues from 1 - 4 pm Sunday and 4 - 7 pm Monday.

Parents and guardians attending the event must bring: a photo id, a Center for People in Need client card (if they have one), a piece of mail with name and current address, and documentation of each member of the household (last five social security numbers is required).

If this is their first time receiving services, clients also will need to bring income verification -- at or below 150 percent of federal poverty guidelines.

Families that have not filled out an application, but are still in need of toys for their children, can fill out one at the gift distribution.

The center is also still accepting donations of both cash and items.
