From Stuhr Museum:
Hastings Museum has pulled into the lead (though only slightly) with just over two weeks to go in the “Sharing Through The Season” food drive between Hastings, Stuhr Museum and the Great Platte River Archway Monument in Kearney.
The three museums are currently competing to see which institution can raise the most donated food during the month of December. The totals stand at 523 pounds for Hastings, 509 for Stuhr and 344 for the Archway.
Last year, with just Stuhr and Hastings competing, the “Sharing Through the Season” drive raised over two-and-a-half tons of food for The Food Pantry in Hastings and the Salvation Army Food Pantry in Grand Island.
By adding the Archway in Kearney to the mix, the hope is not only to raise food for local agencies, but also raise awareness for the needs of the less fortunate during this time of giving.
Food donations to Stuhr Museum can be taken to the Stuhr Building from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday and Noon to 5 p.m. on Sunday and put in the sleigh outside the Stuhr Building.
Food donated to the Hastings Museum can be dropped off 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday, 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday and Noon to 6 p.m. on Sunday.
The Archway is open Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. and food donations can be left outside the Archway in a designated area or at the Firefighter Museum in Kearney.
