An annual holiday campaign in the capital city can make a difference in the lives of homeless pets.
The south Petco is taking part in the Tree of Hope program.
Customers can round up their purchases or donate a specific dollar amount as they're checking out.
All the proceeds go to two local organizations - the Lincoln Animal Ambassadors and the Coalition for Pet Protection.
Store officials say both organizations are worthy recipients due to their local focus in helping pets and families in need.
The campaign raises an average of more than $3,000 each year.
It runs through December 31st.
