At Fremont's Eternal Flame Memorial nearby trailers are filled with hundreds of flags to be displayed along Military Avenue on Monday.
Chris Madsen organizes the Memorial Day tradition.

Madsen said "Realizing that ultimate sacrifice that someone has made in defense of our country is the utmost respect that we can give them for what they have done."

Grand Island- born artist Dave Earnest is working with Madsen to honor post 9/11 veterans. Earnest wants to show his respect in the form of a mural.

Ernest has created a number of patriotic murals and says a busy Fremont park is the perfect location for his artwork.

Earnest says he's trying to raise the funds for the display, for more information you can email FremontAvenueofFlags@yahoo.com
