A beloved children's author is getting kids excited about reading.
March 2nd is Dr. Seuss's birthday.
Gateway Mall and the Lincoln City Libraries teamed up to celebrate with Read Across America.
Families could gather at the play area in the mall to read together.
1011's Rusty Dawkins also stopped by to read to the kids.
There was face-painting, coloring, and beading.
Organizers say the whole goal is to get kids excited about reading while honoring the legacy of Dr. Seuss.
The libraries are also hosting a book drive throughout the month of March.
Anyone who brought a book to donate got a Dr. Seuss hat.
