Some local kids are getting hands on in the fight against hunger.

It's all part of First Plymouth Church's Mission One.

These kids are making works of art which will cover 111 food donation barrels.

The congregation will write 1,111 letters to their law makers urging legislation to fight hunger.

And their goal is to collect 11,111 dollars to donate to local organizations.

Organizers say it gets kids working to solve the problems around them.

The church will place food donation barrels outside it's doors every Sunday.

Church officials say the community is welcome and encouraged to stop by and donate non-perishable items for local food pantries.
