Lincoln Salvation Army Beats Record Fundraising Goal

Generous holiday giving means the Lincoln Salvation Army chapter will be able to continue doing the most good.

The chapter beat its Tree of Lights fundraising goal of $597,000 with a final fundraising total of $601,000.

The Red Kettle drive is part of that campaign.

The money raised makes up half of the organization's yearly budget.

Captain Jamie Pennington says it feels good to know the community is behind them.

The money will keep the food pantry stocked and keep a number of programs running, like after school outreach and the winter night watch.
