"It's worth it, it's only a few hours," said Ashton Holecheck, a Nebraska Wesleyan Student as she worked on landscaping Lincoln Manor, one of more than 20 non-profit organizations that benefits community service work each year.

More than 400 Nebraska Wesleyan Students volunteer and more than twenty non profit organizations across the city of Lincoln. It's all part of this year's Lend-A-Hand
to Lincoln Day.

"I think it's really important for us to do community service so we can really become one with Lincoln,"
said David Breiner, Nebraska Wesleyan Student.

The students will hammer out 800 service hours today. It's part of a year-long goal of 12,500 hours from the entire student boday at Wesleyan and they say it's worth it.

"It's a really good opportunity to know the community a little better and to spend time with your classmates," said Margery Dunkle, Nebraska Wesleyan Student.

"It really like brings you closer to the community at Wesleyan because it's like we're all in this together," added Ashton Holecheck, Nebraska Wesleyan Student.

Chris Harroun, a Wesleyan freshman wanted the day to end and the professors to start teaching. "I'd like classes to start. We've been here for four days and I would like to begin to see what they are like."

In due time they will get their fill of academics, but for today it's not about giving grades, it's about giving back..
