Nebraska Banks Provide 1,425 Spruce Tree Seedlings

Nineteen Nebraska banks are planning to provide 1,425 seedlings to community groups and customers this year to encourage tree planting.

The Nebraska Bankers Association organizes the effort to provide
Norway Spruce trees in celebration of Arbor Day and to promote
environmental stewardship.

Association President George Beattie says planting trees is something banks across the state do to contribute to their communities.

Since the banks' tree-planting program began in 1990, nearly 149,000 trees have been donated.
