The Nebraska Humane Society in Omaha has begun a pet food drive to help people who are financially strapped by Missouri River flooding or other problems.
The society says its food pantry has been forced to turn away pet owners who were looking for some help this summer.
The society says the shelter animals eat food donated by Science Diet. Dry food donated by the public is offered to community residents for their pets.
People may drop off the food donations during the shelter's business hours: 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. weekdays, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekends.
