Nebraska has maintained its 4th-place national ranking in volunteering.
A new report estimated that 37.4 percent of Nebraskans
volunteered between 2008 and 2010. Their volunteer efforts amounted
to almost 64 million hours, time valued at almost $1.4 billion.
Last year's report found similar findings about the state.
Utah again led the nation by maintaining its volunteering rate
of 44.5 percent. Nationwide, the volunteer rate dipped to 26.3
percent from last year's 26.8 percent.
The Corporation for National and Community Service puts out the
annual report using U.S. Census Bureau data.
