It seems Husker football fans have come through in a big way for Lincoln's homeless population.
The more than 500 people who volunteered before the Oct. 8 Nebraska football game helped raise $31,000 to help the homeless. The money goes to support the Matt Talbot Kitchen and Outreach's hunger relief and homeless prevention services.
In addition to the volunteers, 40 local businesses sponsored the event.
The trophy for the school with the most registered volunteers went to Lincoln Christian, with 39, for the second year in a row.
