A local outreach organization is helping provide thousands of low income families with a hot meal this Thanksgiving.
The Center for People in Need kicked of its annual give away today.
Over the next few days, the center will hand out food to 12,000 people in need.
Hundreds of volunteers made the event possible, including around 200 students from Irving Middle School.
Organizers say the need grows every year.
The food give away will continue at The Center for People in Need through Monday.
To qualify, residents have to meet or exceed 150 percent of the poverty level.
