The Salvation Army in Lincoln is helping folks stay cool this summer.
The annual fan giveaway provides relief from the heat for those who may not have the resources to buy one on their own.
Clarice Mackey says she's been getting phone calls since April inquiring about the fans. Mackey says a warm start to the year might mean higher demand for the cooling devices this summer.
The Salvation Army location at 27th and Potter Streets will be providing the fans to those who qualify between the hours of 1p.m. and 4p.m. Mondays through Fridays throughout the summer.
Mackey says her Salvation Army location usually gives away 800 to 1000 fans each year. She says this year the demand seems to be greater than years past so fan donations from the community are welcome.
Fans can be dropped off at 2625 Potter Street, the same location where folks who qualify can pick them up.
