Skaters as Waiters Raising Funds
Skeeter Barnes restaurant and the Tri-City Storm are teaming up to raise money for area families affected by cancer.
Storm hockey players will grab serving trays and wait tables at its annual Skaters As Waiters event from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at Skeeter Barnes in Kearney.
Storm players will work with the restaurant’s staff, and all tips from the night will be donated to Kearney Tackles Cancer, which helps area cancer patients with expenses that are not covered by insurance.
In addition to waiting tables, Storm players will sign autographs and take pictures with customers.
Each year Storm hockey raises funds for various community organizations as part of the team’s outreach efforts. The Skaters As Waiters night is an annual event that regularly raises more than $1,000 for area nonprofit organizations or causes.
