The 10/11 Cares Team showed up with their dogs to the Capital Humane Society Pet Walk on Sunday. Brad Anderson led the walk as the celebrity walker with his dogs Ringo (adopted 15 years ago) and Marley (adopted just a few years ago), son Alex, and wife Laura. Tony DeGrand showed up without a dog to walk a 1-year-old dog hoping to be adopted. Karen from the traffic department brought her dog, Luke, who was adopted from the Humane Society after appearing on one of our weekly adopt-a-pet segments. He was loving the belly scratches. My husband, Dan, and I brought our golden retriever, Chevy, who always loves the attention, but most of all, the peanut butter lick.
Everyone had a great time, like they always do. The weather was great, the exercise is always needed, the vendors filled our bags with treats, and, most importantly, the Capital Humane Society raised money, over $40,000, to keep caring for the city's needy pets.
