The Salvation Army has volunteer opportunities for people who have money but no time, time but no money, or a little of both.
Volunteers are still needed for next week to deliver gifts room to room at some local nursing homes. If you have the time and a knack for conversation email Theresa_White@salvationarmy.org or call (402)474-6263 ext. 101.
The Salvation Army Angel Tree program will provide toy to more than 6,000 kids this year. There are several ways you can participate. Go to jcpenney.com/angel to purchase a toy, and JC Penney will send it for free to the Salvation Army. You can take a tag from a tree at a local business and return it to that business or to The Salvation Army at 2925 Potter Street in Lincoln between 9am and 4pm Mon-Fri. You can also get your family or business involved by adopting a family and getting gifts for them. For more information on this email Ramona_Moon@usc.SalvationArmy.org
Last, but not least, there are still plenty of bell ringing slots throughout the capital city. The locations are convenient no matter where you live, and time slots are only 2 hours at a time. Go to www.ringbells.org to find a time slot and location that is convenient for you. Be sure to bundle up!
It's better to give than to recieve this time of year, whether it's of your time or money. Get out there and volunteer!
