The University of Nebraska-Lincoln is encouraging people to recycle trash around Memorial Stadium during football games this fall.
The university's Landscape Services is coordinating a volunteer effort with Recycling Enterprises to encourage the recycling. The focus will be on parking lots and walkways near the stadium.
Recycling bins will be placed near trash containers along walkways. Volunteers will be handing out green recycling bags at parking lots. People can use the bags for plastic and aluminum recycling and can leave the bags for volunteers to pick up.
Volunteers can contact Prabhakar Shrestha or Jeff Henson at 402-472-9139 or recycling@unl.edu.
Recycling Enterprises will collect the material and donate revenue back to organizers on a per-pound basis. The money will support future recycling efforts and recycling outreach in Lincoln.
