Instead of receiving gifts, newlyweds Michael & Christina Murphy teamed up to give one.
The Murphy's and their wedding party, two flower girls and two bridesmaids, donated their hair to Locks of Love. The organization takes donated hair to make hairpieces for disadvantaged and sick children.
The group met at Salon F to shed a few inches off their stylish do's.
Michael Murphy had gotten his hair stuck at work a few days earlier. He cut it as a surprise wedding present. When his wife saw nearly 40 inches missing from her husband's head, she decided to do the same.
Locks of Love is a public non-profit organization that provides hairpieces to financially disadvantaged children in the United States and Canada under age 21 suffering from long-term medical hair loss from any diagnosis. They meet a unique need for children by using donated hair to create the highest quality hair prosthetics. Most of the children helped by Locks of Love have lost their hair due to a medical condition called alopecia areata, which has no known cause or cure. The prostheses they provide helps to restore their self-esteem and their confidence, enabling them to face the world and their peers.
