Benjamin Schoenkin

Content Producer/Video Journalist

Benjamin Schoenkin is a content producer/video journalist for 10/11 News & NBC Nebraska.

Prior to beginning his role as content producer/video journalist, Benjamin Schoenkin interned at 10/11 in the spring of 2016.

At the University of Nebraska - Lincoln, he has produced and delivered newscasts on KRNU and KRNU2. Benjamin also started his own public affairs politics show on KRNU2 titled "Cornhusker State Politics and Beyond." The show covered local, state, and national politics. He interviewed political science professors and students live on the show. Additionally, he reported for the Daily Nebraskan in 2015, often covering state legislature news.

At the Midwest Journalism Conference in 2016, Benjamin received the prestigious Midwest Broadcast Journalists Association Jack Shelley Scholarship, as well as an Eric Sevareid Award of Merit in the radio hard feature category for a story on a bill in the Nebraska Legislature. In 2015, Benjamin won a UNL Publications Board First Place Award for Outstanding Achievement in News Event Coverage for an article he wrote in 2015 on a Sen. Deb Fischer speech about Iran.

He is a broadcast journalism and political science major at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.

In the summer of 2015 Benjamin interned at KLKN-TV. He is very interested in politics and enjoys covering political news. He can often be found researching the next potential legislation at the state legislature. He is also the one of two student governors at the national level of the National Broadcasting Society-Alpha Epsilon Rho, helping to plan annual conventions and interacting with chapters at universities across the country.

In his free time, Benjamin enjoys watching his favorite NFL team, the Green Bay Packers. While he has lived in New York City and Chicago prior to living in Lincoln, he says Nebraska is his true home. Benjamin especially enjoys visiting the local communities around Nebraska and learning more about the state.
