Mikel Lauber joined the 10/11 NOW news team as Director of News in June 2017, after leading newsrooms in Wisconsin and Texas.
The move to the Cornhusker State is a homecoming for Mikel, who was born in York and has family in Omaha.
A former reporter and anchor, Mikel has won numerous journalism awards during his career, including multiple Regional Edward R. Murrow Awards and Emmy Awards.
A graduate of Bethany Lutheran College in Mankato, Minnesota, he joined Gray Television’s WSAW-TV in Wausau, Wisconsin in 2007, spending time as a reporter and then evening anchor before becoming News Director in 2011.
In 2014, Mikel transferred within Gray Television to lead the newsroom of KWTX-TV in Waco, Texas. The station was awarded the National Association of Broadcasters’ Service to America Award, and was given the State’s Award for Overall Excellence for News in 2016.
Mikel enjoys spending as much time as possible with his wife, three daughters, and two dogs.
