12-year-old referred for assault after video surfaces

LINCOLN, Neb. – Lincoln Police said a 12-year-old has been referred to the Lancaster County Attorney for assault after an incident at Culler Middle School on Monday.

A video, which shows the victim being thrown onto the ground, has gone viral on social media.

LPD said a 12-year-old female was assault by another 12-year-old student, and that “Lincoln Public Schools took immediate action to ensure the safety of the students and the female was suspended.”

LPD proceeded to contact the involved students and parents, and the 12-year-old who carried out the assault was referred to the Lancaster County Attorney for assault.

The mother of the child referred for assault responded to the video on Facebook, saying her daughter has also been bullied, and her actions were in response to previous incidents.
