One injured after car strikes pulled-over vehicles

LINCOLN, Neb. – One person was transported to the hospital after a vehicle rear ended a car that was pulled over on the side of the road.

The woman was transported to the hospital with life-threatening injuries, but according to Lincoln Police, as of Wednesday afternoon, her condition has improved.

Emergency crews responded to the situation in the area of 40th Street and Pine Lake Road around 9:45 a.m. on Wednesday.

Lincoln Police said two vehicles were traveling southbound on 40th Street when they got into an accident.

The two cars pulled over to exchange information, and while on the side of the road, a third vehicle rear ended one of the cars that was pulled over.

Police said one female was transported to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.

40th Street near Pine Lake Road will be closed for an extended period of time, police said, and authorities are asking drivers to avoid the area while crews work the scene.
