Kearney man to be sentenced in June for Grand Island shooting

GRAND ISLAND, Neb. (KSNB) - A Kearney man will be sentenced June 27th for his part in a Grand Island shooting last September.

Police connected Alex Solis, 32, to a September 2nd incident in which Jessica Alvarez was shot and wounded. The shooting happened at the Greenleaf apartments on Capital Avenue in Grand Island.

He was originally charged with attempted murder, first degree assault, two counts of using a firearm to commit a felony and one count of firearm possession by a prohibited person.

He pleaded no contest to firearm possession by a prohibited person. A conviction on that crime carries a possible penalty of 50 years in prison. Prosecutors dropped the other charges.
