Kearney man set for April trial on attempted murder

GRAND ISLAND, Neb. (KSNB) - A Kearney man is scheduled for an April trial for a September shooting incident in Grand Island.

Alex Solis, 32, is charged with attempted murder, first degree assault, two counts of using a firearm to commit a felony and one count of firearm possession by a prohibited person.

The combined maximum penalties for conviction on all five charges add up to more than 200 years in prison.

Police have connected Solis to a September 2 incident in which Jessica Alvarez was shot and wounded. The shooting happened at the Greenleaf apartments on Capital Avenue in Grand Island.

He is currently being held in the Hall county jail.
