Kearney man to face trial for Motel 6 robbery

KEARNEY, Neb. (KSNB) The suspect connected to an armed robbery at Kearney Motel 6 will now face trial on two felony charges.

Elwood Furrowh, 48, of Kearney, is charged with felony robbery and felony use of a deadly weapon.

The robbery happened about 7:00 AM August 30th at the Motel 6 on Talmadge street in south Kearney

Court records indicate that Furrowh spent some time early Wednesday morning in the Motel 6 lobby. Police say he eventually held a knife to the desk clerk's throat and demanded money. The clerk gave him an undisclosed amount of cash.

Police later recovered a money bag near the Kearney Cinema 8. They arrested Furrowh later Wednesday near a Kearney convenience store.

The charges against Furrowh are both class 2 felonies, which carry a maximum sentence of 50 years each.

Furrowh's plea hearing in district court is pending.
