LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) - The Lincoln Police Department reported that officers were called to Irving Middle School at 2 p.m. on Wednesday after a student alerted a teacher that a bag containing drugs was on the premises.

Police located the bag with 2.5 grams of the substance in a third floor trash can.

Officers tested the bag at the scene, and it tested positive for methamphetamine.

They then spoke with a 12 year old student who claimed he had found the bag before tossing it in a trash can. Police did not say where the student found the bag.

LPD said the case now heads to the county attorney where it will head to juvenile court.
