Colder Friday, with peak temperatures ranging from the teens along and north of I-80 to the low 20s along the Kansas border prior to the colder air settling this afternoon. We could be seeing some flurries or light snow showers this afternoon, with even some freezing drizzle in counties along the Kansas line.
Dangerously COLD arctic air will return to the region by Saturday night and continue through New Year's Day Monday. Wind chills of -20 to -40 will be possible across 1011 Country through the period and Wind Chill Advisories and Warnings are likely to be issued. Please be prepared for bitterly cold temperatures and the possibility of some light snow.
Frostbite and hypothermia can occur quickly under the conditions we expect to see over the weekend.
