OMAHA, Neb. -- A 5-year-old child was seriously injured in an early morning crash on Interstate 80 in Omaha Tuesday morning.
Just before 5:15 a.m., officers responded to a two-vehicle personal injury collision near 72nd Street and I-80.
According to a witness, a 2006 Honda Accord was eastbound on I-80 when it spun out due to icy conditions. The Honda was rear-ended by a semi-trailer truck that was behind it.
A 5-year-old was transported to Bergan Mercy hospital with a head injury that is considered life-threatening.
The child was secured in an approved child seat.
The interstate was shut down until around 7:30 a.m.
The crash is under investigation at this time.
