LINCOLN, Neb. – Lincoln Fire and Rescue crews were called to a structure fire in the area of N 30th and T streets in Lincoln at about 3:30 p.m. Monday.
Upon arrival, LFR immediately starting putting water on the flames.
A witnesses told a 1011 reporter on scene there was “fire shooting through the windows of the home.”
Duane Jordan was inside when he saw flames coming from his bedroom. He said he tried to put it out, but it spread. He says he and his friend then ran out and called 911.
When his mom, Candace, got on scene she was in shock. She tried to run inside and had to be held back by police. She said the whole thing was very emotional.
"I got stuff in there my grandkids, my kids from when they were babies, I mean there's stuff there that's not replaceable... But it's alright, I can start over," Candace said.
They said they're just thankful no one was hurt.
Fire inspectors are still trying to determine what started the fire and the cost of the damage the blaze caused.
