Fire at soil sampling business in Lincoln not considered suspicious

LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) - According to Lincoln Fire Inspector Chuck Schweitzer, an early morning fire at a soil sampling business is not suspicious. The fire appears to be accidental.

Fire crews were called to Terracon Consultants Inc, near 20th and Cornhusker Highway, shortly after 3:00 Thursday morning.

The fire started in an office in the building, according to Inspector Schweitzer. The fire spread to several offices but a firewall prevented the fire from moving into the building’s warehouse.

The damage to Terracon Consultants is estimated around $100,000. S&B Auto next door also suffered minor smoke and water damage.

No one was hurt in the fire, but there was concern about possible radioactive material. Crews determined there was no risk to firefighters or the public.
