OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) -- The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office has opened an investigation after an inmate died while at the Douglas County Jail over the weekend.

Matthew R. Tracy, 40, was arrested Friday and booked in Douglas County Jail on suspicion of DUI and marijuana possession among other charges.

Officials said Tracy was found unresponsive in a cell room inside of a housing unit late Sunday. Staff initiated CPR. Medical staff immediately responded and assisted in first aid efforts, officials said.

The Omaha Fire Department responded to the jail. A determination was made that Tracy was deceased. As is required by state law for any in-custody death an investigation is underway.
