Driver pleads guilty in crash that killed Lincoln third grader

LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) -- The man charged with manslaughter in the crash that killed a third grader at Randolph Elementary changed his plea.

Brandon Valentine pleaded guilty in Lancaster County District Court on Thursday.

Valentine is now set for sentencing on September 13 at 9:30 AM.

Valentine's F150 hit a Volkswagon Golf near north Cotner and Garland in the morning of March 16.

The crash killed 8-year-old Camden King and hurt Camden's father.

According to Lincoln Police, officers found bottles of alcohol in Valentine's car.

Investigators also determined Valentine was driving more than 70 mph in a 30 mph zone.
