LINCOLN, Neb. -- The Lincoln Police Department and the FBI held a press conference regarding the disappearance of 24-year-old Sydney Loofe on Thursday morning.
During the press conference,, authorities provided some new information, and asked yet again for the public’s help locating Loofe.
FBI special agent Randy Thysee said two persons of interest, Aubrey Trail, 51, and Bailey Boswell, 23, have been contacted and located by authorities.
They were taken into custody on unrelated warrants "somewhere in the Midwest." It is unsure were Trail and Boswell were located.
No other information about the persons of interest was revealed.
Thysee also made a plea for the public’s help while addressing the media.
“Recent information has really helped our investigation tremendously. That is why we are here today, to ask for the public’s assistance,” Thysee said.
Lincoln Police Chief Jeff Bliemeister also addressed the media, reiterating LPD has been in contact with Trail and Boswell, but did not expand on their involvement.
In addition, he added that a large search effort in Saline and Gage counties on Wednesday night did not reveal any new evidence.
When asked why it took two weeks to launch a large-scale search, Bliemeister said “that is the perception, but that is not the reality….all of these agencies have been working diligently behind the scenes.”
He added the next two steps in the investigation are to figure out where Sydney is, and to speak to the two people of interest.
The parents of Sydney Loofe also attended the press conference, making a brief statement and urging anyone with information to come forward.
“On behalf of our family I would like to thank all of you,” Sydney’s father, George said. “In my opinion someone knows something. Please do the right thing.”
The last confirmed sighting of Loofe was in Wilber on Nov. 15, but LPD has not given a location as to where she was seen.
On Wednesday, Trail and Boswell released a video on Facebook titled “our side of it”. They released a second pair of videos on Thursday morning.
All of the videos have since been removed.
The two say in the video Boswell went on two dates with Sydney, and last saw her when she dropped her off at a friend’s house following the second date on Wednesday, Nov. 15.
A tip line has also been set up for the case. Anyone with info is asked to contact 402-493-8688.
