LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) - It was a messy scene on west O Street in Lincoln on Sunday after a car crashed into a fire hydrant.
Lincoln Police said the accident occurred around 2:56 a.m., and caused part of West O to flood.
Police said UNLPD arrived on scene and was able to get the driver out safely.
The driver was transported to the hospital and then to jail where he was cited and released on suspicion of DUI.
The flooding also caused issues for the nearby jail. The water had to be turned off, but when the water suppression system at the jail failed, it caused all fire alarms to go off.
The area has since been cleaned and cleared.
