GIPD investigating two separate fraud cases

GRAND ISLAND, Neb. (KSNB) - Grand Island Police are currently investigating two separate fraud cases involving thousands of dollars.

In one incident the victim was scammed out over $40,000 after meeting the scammer through an online dating site.

The scammer sent her a fraudulent check and then told her to deposit that money into numerous accounts.

The second incident involves an elderly man whose identity, social security number, and credit and debit card numbers were stolen.

Purchases were made on the man's account totaling nearly $22,000.

Both incidents are being separately investigated.
