Good Life Halfsy half marathon set for Sunday

LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) -- A record-breaking 6500 runners are set to participate in the 4th annual Good Life Halfsy half marathon presented by Bulu Box on Sunday, October 29, 2017.

Named one of The Best Half Marathons for First-Timers by, the race is sold out for the fourth year in a row, attracting runners from 43 states.

The Good Life Halfsy presented by Bulu Box will start at 8:30 AM and sends runners on a scenic point-to-point course from east Lincoln’s Seacrest Field to Canopy Street in Lincoln’s Railyard. Highlights of the route include Holmes Lake, Antelope Valley, Union Plaza, Innovation Campus, historic North Bottom’s Neighborhood, downtown stadiums, the Lincoln pedestrian bridge and a finish line next to The Railyard. Runners will be able to see their triumphant finish on the Cube digital screen in The Railyard. Runners and race patrons can enjoy the Post-Race Festival at the Railyard as well. Participants will pick up their race packets at the Excel Chiropractic & Wellness Run Expo inside Embassy Suites on October 28th.

Jason Bakewell, race co-director, is looking forward to the largest Halfsy, yet. “We’ve worked with the city of Lincoln to grow the capacity of the course and we’re excited that the running community has responded with the race growing again. Sunday will be a fun day for participants, spectators, and Lincoln,” he said.
The variety of participants is rewarding for Zach Harsin, director of community relations for Pink Gorilla Events, the race organizer. “The Good Life Halfsy is a great race for first-time half-marathoners, but also attracts some of the most competitive runners in the region. We expect lots of personal records will be set on the net downhill course,” he said.

Many fun surprises will create a festival-like atmosphere along the course including cheer stations and entertainment stops. Friends and family of runners, as well as the public, are invited to come out to the course and cheer on race morning.
