Firefighter injured battling fire in South Lincoln

LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) - Lincoln Fire and Rescue battled a fire in South Lincoln Friday morning that caused roughly $90,000 worth of damage and left one firefighter injured.

The call came in around 5:15 a.m. to 7310 South 16th, near 16th and Pine Lake.

No one was home at the time of the fire, but authorities were eventually able to track down the people who live there.

The fire did damage to both the outside and inside of the structure, and the back deck of the home is a total loss.

One firefighter was injured during the call after the deck collapsed. He was treated at he scene.

LFR believes the fire started on the deck.

People in the area brought cases of water and hot chocolate to the fire crews during the chilly morning rescue, LFR said.
